Importing from Microsoft Project
GenieBelt primarily supports import from MS Project. When clicking the Start Import button, a pop-up box will prompt you to specify a file. This file has to be a .xml file type.
It's easy to get this type of file from your MS Project document, just follow below steps:
- On the File menu, click Save As
- In the Save as type box you select .XML
- Give that bad-boy a name and click Save
- Now import this file into GenieBelt
- Go for a cup of coffee and let the import process do it's magic
Importing from Excel
It is also possible to import tasks from Excel, but it's important that the order of the columns of information is in the correct order.
Attached at the bottom of this article is an example Excel format. This will show you how you need to order the tasks names, start and end dates, etc. Also note it's important that the date format is exactly put as in this template, otherwise the import won't work. Make sure to leave the column headings as they are and just input your data below that.
When you come to importing into GenieBelt, import directly as an Excel format file (xls).
Importing from other software
From August 2017 you can also import native Primavera files directly into GenieBelt.
From August 2017 you can also import native Asta Powerproject files directly, although if you have problems you may also try saving your projects as an xml file before importing them into GenieBelt.
